Stephanie's 8-Week Liver Cleanse Journey

Stephanie here! I'm super excited to share a little health update with you all: I've been diving headfirst into an 8-week liver cleanse under the expert guidance of Maria, our incredible naturopath and I want to share my experience with you all in hopes of inspiring you to kickstart your health journey as well.
Why I decided I needed a change
For as long as I can remember, I’ve suffered with crazy bloating, irregular periods, difficulty losing weight and also feel like no matter how much sleep I get I often have low energy levels and occasional brain fog. I decided to do a consultation with Maria and see what she thought about it.
My protocol
Maria recommended an 8-week liver cleanse to focus on detoxifying my liver to address hormonal imbalances, inflammation, and metabolic issues. What this basically means is for 8 weeks no alcohol, no gluten, no dairy, no sugar, no processed foods and oils plus some natural remedies like supplements and teas (essiac formula, a liver detox supplement, sprouted flaxseed powder, magnesium, and Genestra EFA).
My experience so far
Before starting, I was actually quite nervous about being able to stick to all these restrictions. I’ve been struggling with my discipline these days and it felt like an extreme change - I also had a trip to Arizona coming up and I felt like resisting a cocktail by the pool on a sunny day would VERY difficult (love a good cocktail by the pool).
To be honest, a week in I was feeling really great. Despite going to restaurants frequently, it wasn’t that difficult to make good choices and sticking to my protocol was really empowering. I actually came back from Arizona 2 lbs lighter, which was so surprising because I ALWAYS gain weight on vacation. I’m now at the 4 week mark and feel really great. I feel a big difference in my energy levels, mood, and sleep quality and am down 5 lbs! I only cracked with the drinking once (on the 4th weekend) but it was honestly more because of the social pressure and everyone was starting to be convinced that I was pregnant lol so I had to put a rest to the rumour. I also indulged in some dessert at a family event but even Maria encourages some #balance!

At the 4 week mark I’m a bit nervous about being able to keep up my consistency. I’m focusing on how good I feel to empower me to stay focused. Stay tuned to see how the second half of my cleanse goes! I’m going to also be incorporating more detox sauna wraps, lymphatic drainage massages, and workouts.
